Independent Living Community

Independent living communities are designed for seniors to live independently within a planned development, often referred to as a “retirement” community. Seniors who are not in need of the level of care provided by assisted living or skilled nursing facilities often choose an independent living community in order to simplify their housing commitments and to be surrounded by like-minded seniors. Independent living communities provide:

  • Individual residences and amenities designed to support self-sufficient living within a senior community.
  • Opportunities for social interaction, organized activities, and recreation with other senior residents.
  • On-site staff for the provision of safety and security.
  • The benefit of aging in place in a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). A CCRC is designed to offer a tiered level of service. As the care needs increase for once independent seniors, they can remain in their residence while adding additional services that are already offered within the community.
